Historique :	Selon Jean-René Gaborit, ce groupe, d'époque néoclassique pourrait avoir être l'oeuvre d'un sculpteur d'Allemagne ou plus probablement des Pays-Bas coutumier des représentations à caractère ambigu (connotation fortement sexuelle de la pose). L'oeuvre fut donnée à la mairie de Mauperthuis en 1944 par Georges Edouard Petiot (Mauperthuis,1864 - Jouarre, 1955) en même temps que la table sur laquelle il est posé. Selon Daniel Chipaux, ancien maire de Mauperthuis, G.E. Petiot était homme d'entretien auprès d'un consul de Tunisie qui lui aurait offert ce groupe pour le remercier de ses services.
