Description :	Bâton de procession en forme de bateau, illustrant un épisode de la légende de saint Nicolas de Bari.

Historique :	Un bâton de procession analogue (classé) est conservé dans l'église Notre-Dame et Sainte-Croix de Bray-sur-Seine, où la statuette de saint Nicolas a disparu. Ce bâton de procession et le retable latéral sud de saint Nicolas attestent d'un véritable culte dédié au saint à Germigny-l'évêque.

Précision_sur la representation :	Le thème du bâton de procession reprend deux des nombreux évènements tirés de la légende du saint. Les trois enfants renvoient au miracle du saloir. Demandant l'hospitalité à un boucher (ou un aubergiste selon les légendes), ils furent tués, découpés en morceaux puis jetés dans un saloir. Saint Nicolas rassembla les morceaux et leurs redonna la vie. Le bateau rappelle que saint Nicolas est le patron des mariniers, il est souvent représenté avec une ancre pour attribut.
