Précision_sur la representation :	La statue représente sainte Bathilde en abbesse. Sainte Bathilde est liée à l'histoire de Chelles. Mariée à Clovis II en 649, elle se retira au monastère de Chelles, fondé par la reine Clotilde, après la mort de son époux et suite à un complot fomenté par Ebroin, maire du palais de Neustrie. Bathilde n'a semble-t-il jamais prononcé de voeux monastiques. Elle entra à Chelles sous l'abbatiat de sainte Bertille, nommée par Bathilde elle même. Bertille venait de Jouarre. Bathilde mourut en 680 à Chelles et fut enterrée dans l'église principale du monastère. Le musée conserve sa tunique, et l'église renferme cette statue ainsi que deux châsses-reliquaires du 19e siècle, relatives à sainte Bathilde.
