Historique :	François Constant Petit (Douais 1819 - ?) est peintre de genre, de portrait et d'histoire. Ses maîtres sont Vauchelet et Picot, il débuta au salon de 1845. La fiche du pré-inventaire s'interroge sur le fait que ce tableau soit une copie d'Ingres. Composition très proche du tableau de la famille Scribe à Bussières (PM77002535).
