Description :	Crées à l'origine pour l'impression des indiennes avant d'être utilisées pour la fabrication des papiers peints, les machines à plusieurs couleurs ont eu une progression bien définie : 2 couleurs en 1838, 8 couleurs en 1849, 20 couleurs en 1867. Le record, 24 couleurs, semble de très peu postérieur à 1867 (avant 1869).Principaux éléments : couronnes et pignons d'engrenage, rouleaux passage papier, rouleaux imprimants. Le fonctionnement est assuré par un système d'engrenage apparent. La machine est entreposée sur deux niveaux.
